Welcome to POHMEF
We are a non-profit foundation that runs an inclusive program in Honduras to promote human and social development through the integration and improvement of practices and research. Our aim is to support appropriate policies in health, organic agriculture, environment, technology, and education by acting as the connecting link between the responsible actors. In 2024, POHMEF will continue its commitment by dedicating efforts and leadership to the department of Santa Bárbara. Our objective is to establish agreements and cooperation to promote pilot projects in this region, which can later be implemented in the entire Honduran territory.
The three pillars of our work are
Public Health
Our approach is to provide assistance to vulnerable communities, managing the
control of endemic diseases and seeking to eliminate their outbreaks through
improvements in basic sanitation, infrastructure, and nutrition. Our goal is to
reduce the prevalence of these diseases and minimize their impact on the
communities. We work to improve basic sanitation and infrastructure to improve the quality of life. To properly manage solid waste disposal, ensure access to drinking water, and reduce environmental pollution.

Agricultural Technology
Migration and the loss of generational replacement are challenges that negatively affect communities and their development. In our technical proposal, we seek to take advantage of ancestral knowledge and combine it with new environmentally responsible technologies in the informal agricultural sector. The objective is to diversify production, guarantee food security and promote the sustainable growth of these communities based on good practices that help not only the farmer but also the entire ecosystem, as well as fostering community organization as an integral part of these practices to ensure their long-term sustainability. We work together with the communities to promote the collaboration and active participation of their members in the process of implementation and management of these agricultural technologies, as well as to prepare them through talks and training to successfully carry out the practices.

Education
We are committed to providing equal and inclusive educational opportunities for all students, including those with special needs. We work closely with teachers and education experts to develop programs that encourage meaningful teaching and learning practices, helping students to solve different problems. Additionally, we strive to create an educational environment that promotes an entrepreneurial spirit and creativity, preparing students to tackle the challenges of the world and promoting entrepreneurship in their community. Our approach is not limited to academics but also encourages the formation of values, mutual respect, and social responsibility. We believe that comprehensive education is critical to personal development and the strengthening of society as a whole, aiming to have a positive impact on the students and foster a fundamental change in their attitude and academic aptitude toward building a stronger Honduras.
